Paul Neagu – the first Generative Art Group Catalogue, 1974. 1 of only 500 signed numbered copies.

£200.00

Romanian-British artist Paul Neagu’s 1974 artist’s book “bearing the group-stamp on the cover as artwork.” The most important of all Neagu’s Generative Art Group publications.

Paul Neagu established the Generative Art Group (GAG) in London in 1972. The group included five members, Neaugu and four other artists - all pseudonyms: painter Husny Belmood, designer Philip Honeysuckle, painter Edward Larsocchi and poet Anton Paidola. The catalogue is stamped with the GAG red ink stamp, numbered from the first edition of 500, and signed in pencil by Neagu.

“It documents the existence and the activities of the group as of 1972 and in a manifesto-like text formulates Neagu’s holistic world view. This is why the number of members is the same as the number of human senses. In this way, it is a model of a holistic existence, and art and its works seek to illustrate this. (excerpt from “Paul Neagu and His Elective Affines” essay by Friedemann Malsch, published in “Paul Neagu – The Monograph“).
