This edition of the Moxon Tennyson includes a series of 41 illustrations including contributions by the principal Pre-Raphaelites Dante Gabrielle Rossetti, John Everett Millais, and William Holman Hunt, whose provocative interpretations of Tennyson’s works heralded a ‘golden age’ in which illustration was recognised as a stand-alone art form, no longer secondary to the text.
