First edition of the November 1945 issue of the important American avant garde and Surrealist art journal, View, edited by Charles Henri Ford and Parker Tyler. Cover design by the American Surrealist Leon Kelly (1901–1982). Contents include “I see the pattern of Nijinsky clear” by Parker Tyler; “The milk of wild beasts (a Russian fairy tale); “A new introduction to the pebble” by Francis Ponge ; “The example of Max Jacob” by Wallace Fowlie ; “William Harnett: American necromantic” by Edouard Roditi etc. In the 1940s, View Editions, published the first monograph on Marcel Duchamp and the first book translations of André Breton's poems.
