First edition first printing of Max Bill’s 1949 hardcover monograph of the Swiss civil engineer Robert Maillart (1872-1940). Text, book design, and typography by Max Bill. 180 pages with 250 black-and-white photographs and illustrations of Maillart's revolutionary reinforced concrete bridges. Text in English, German and French. From the collection of the British artist Bernard Meyers (1925–2007).

Condition: Book Condition: Very Good to Near Fine. Light 1mm strip of tanning to the extreme right edge of the front fly leaf, the rear flyleaf with a small mark at the upper left edge. Otherwise the book is remarkably well preserved. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. Large open tears, losses and adhesive tape to the dust jacket.
