£35.00
Sold

Catalogue of an exhibition of an edition of seven screenprints on Plexiglas by Bridget Riley printed by Kelpra Studio in December 1965.

“During the preparatory work for painting, I may make images which are tangential to the problems posed by the particular painting. Some of these images I return to and develop later, others remain as fragments of a theme. These prints are a selection from such fragments in my folios and cover a period from 1962-1965”.
– Bridget Riley

The screenprints in black and white on Plexiglas, from the series entitled Fragments, were exhibited at the Robert Fraser Gallery in 1965, and were the only print series to be made using Plexiglass. The exhibition marked a key moment in the Riley’s early career, as the artist began to move away from the visual agitation of the intense black and white paintings to one of experimentation with various tones of grey.
