The scarce monograph on the 1936 London Surrealist exhibition held at the New Burlington Galleries London 11 June to 4 July 1936, with essays by André Breton, Hugh Sykes Davies, Paul Éluard and Georges Hugnet. With the uncommon iconic dust jacket designed by Roland Penrose comprised of a photo-montage design including a nautilus shell and skeleton key on a typographic background. Original publisher's grey cloth, lettered in black and red. 96 b/w plates. The first published appearance of many of the works illustrated. 251 pages.
