Victor Musgrave ran the pioneering Gallery One from 1953 to 1963. The exhibition presented a selection of the artists Gallery One had shown in the preceding ten years. Souza, Bridget Riley, and others) as well as the first exhibitions in England of artists including Henri Michaux, Rufino Tamayo, Enrico Baj, and Kemen.

Gallery One’s representation and promotion of F.N. Souza paved the way for other exponents of the post-war Indian school in Britain and around the world. Among The gallery’s  important group exhibitions ‘Oeuvres d’Art Transformables’ in 1958 brought together the pioneers and the new generation of optical and kinetic artists - Man Ray, Duchamp, Albers, Agam, Bury, Tinguely, Vasarely, and others.
