Scarce catalogue of the exhibition, ‘Twelve Australian Artists’, one of the first exhibitions solely dedicated to contemporary Australian art overseas. Presenting the work of Ralph Balson, Jean Bellette, Arthur Boyd, William Dobell, Russell Drysdale, Donald Friend, Frank Hinder, Godfrey Miller, Sidney Nolan, Justin O'Brien, Lloyd Rees, Constance Stokes. The exhibition toured to five venues in Britain, including Victoria Art Gallery, Bath, 5 Sep 1953–26 Sep 1953; City of Bradford Art Gallery, Bradford, 03 Oct 1953–24 Oct 1953; Derby Art Gallery, Derby, 05 Dec 1953–26 Dec 1953; City Museum & Art Gallery, Bristol, 02 Jan 1954–23 Jan 1954; City of Belfast Museum and Art Gallery, Northern Ireland, 30 Jan–20 Feb 1954; and closing at New Burlington Galleries, London, 12 Jul 1954–22 Aug 1954. An edited version of the exhibition was shown at the Venice Biennale in 1954. Foreword by Philip James, essay by Thomas Laurence. Black and white Illustrations.
