A 2007 reprint of the 1993 1st edition, reprinted in memory of James Agapitos OAM 1927-2007.  Published to accompany an Art Gallery of New South Wales touring exhibition of James Gleeson’s drawings and texts from the Agapitos/Wilson Collection. Softcover, 64pp., near fine.

Renowned as Australia’s foremost surrealist painter and poet, James Gleeson’ (1915-2008) explored the human condition beyond visible reality and the limitations of the senses through powerful enigmas of fleshy biomorphic, mechanical and illusionistic landscape forms. In addition to his contributions to surrealism, throughout his career Gleeson made important contributions to the Australian art world as a dedicated writer, critic and affiliate of a number of art institutions.
