Allen Jones. Retrospective of Paintings 1957 - 1978. A touring exhibition organised by the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool. Walker Art Gallery Liverpool 17 March - 20 April 1979 and traveling to Serpentine Gallery, Sunderland Museum and Gallery, Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Kunsthalle Bielefeld. Catalogue of 55 works each illustrated in colour or b/w with an accompanying text. This was the first major retrospective of British artist Allen Jones’ work, and focused on his paintings. The exhibition brought together 55 works by Allen Jones (b.1937) spanning two decades, including a number of major canvases never before seen in Britain. Selected paintings included examples from his early work, through to his better known erotic paintings, seen together for the first time.
