Jocelyn Chewett : Sculpteur son oeuvre abstract 1949-1979

Scarce catalogue of an exhibition of works by the British born constructivist sculptor Jocelyn Chewett (1906-1979) held at the Centre Culturel Canadien, Paris, 3 April – 6 May 1981. All 25 works shown were gifted to the University of East Anglia collection in 1982 by Chewett’s husband, the artist Stephen Gilbert, and their children. The catalogue was sent by Stephen Gilbert to Dr Alastair Grieve at the time of the exhibition as stated in the accompanying letter.

An article in the University of East Anglia Newsletter dated 21 May 1982 states that “[t]he gift is the most important donation to be made to the collection since it was started in 1968”.  List of 25 works many of which are illustrated as full page monochrome plates.
