Kar’s portrait of Foujita was first show in the exhibition “40 Artists from London and Paris” which opened at Gallery One, London, 12 October 1954. This was Kar’s first solo show. “In the spring of that year, Kar took a three-month sabbatical from her theatrical photography to build up a notable portfolio of artists. The results of Kar's 'busy round of visits to studios and ateliers' in Paris were shown alongside fifteen of her portraits of British artists.” – National Portrait Gallery
Kar’s portrait of Foujita was included in a window display for the exhibition alongside her portraits of Le Corbusier, Stanley Spencer, Marie Laurencin, Man Ray and Jacob Epstein.
Together with the rare re-typeset offprint, of Helmut Gernsheim's article on Ida Kar from Motif 9, Summer 1962 which includes portrait photographs of Marc Chagall, Georges Braque, Ivon Hitchens, and Leonid Leonov.
