David Medalla (ed.), Signals / Newsbulletin of Signals London, Vol.1, No.8, Jun-Jul 1965. 507 x 342mm. 16pp. Naum Gabo featured on cover. Contents include: statement by Alejandro Otero; Antonio Calderara; Francesco Saba Sardi; Chillida by Gerald Turner; The Takis Dialogues: V by Guy Brett; Li Yuan Chia; Alberto Guzman; Helio Oiticica; Mathias Goeritz; Liliane Lijn; Raimondos; Antonio Asis; Lazlo Moholy-Nagy; Malevitch; one page dedicated to J R Soto; The Art of Sergio De Camargo; Lygia Clarke. An interesting issue that, rather than being dedicated to a single artist, features a selection of Signals artists, mainly from South America. Signals London was a short-lived yet highly influential British venue dedicated to 1960s avant-garde artists from Europe and Latin America. Through their exhibitions, events and publications, they established fruitful cross-border networks between these regions and introduced early manifestations of Fluxus, Kinetic and Op art to Britain. Having evolved from the Centre for Advanced Creative Study, Signals London was situated in London’s West End between 1964 and 1966. Condition: Folded twice, some wear to folds on outer page and edges of pages, light toning. Overall VG.
